“Dressing well is a form of good manners” – Tom Ford
Like it or not – your clothes send out a message about you. The clothes you wear and the way you groom yourself will change the way other people hear what you say. It will subconsciously tell them if you’re like them or if you’re different. It will determine whether they listen or ignore. Trust or distrust.
Here’s why you should dress up for work every day:
1. You are more confident
Dressing up has proven to have the ability to boost your mood and overall confidence. Leaving the house in a wrinkled top, stretched out jeans and shaggy, slept on hair can have you feeling ‘blah’ all day. Nothing feels better than looking good.
2. You gain respect
Believe it or not, most people you associate yourself within the workforce would prefer you to always look presentable. When you present yourself well, people will present you with respect.
3. You might move further in your career
The popular saying, “dress for the job you want” holds so very true. Dressing well shows you care about what you are doing.
4. You become more social
When you look good, you feel good. Think about all the days you dressed well for work and were inclined to make post-work plans to show off your fab outfit.
5. You’re prepared to meet anyone
You never know who you are going to meet! And you do not get a second chance to make a first impression. First impressions are all about the way you look and if you dress well every day, you are always ready to make a great first impression.
