If you want to be on the path of spiritual growth, then you are going to want to do everything in your power to avoid the things that might set you back. Here are three potential spiritual setbacks to avoid.
Spending Too Much Time With The Wrong People
While a few interactions with negative people will not harm your spiritual path, you need to be cautious. Certainly, by spending an overload of time with them, you will begin to notice a decline in your spiritual awareness and growth.
Sure, it might not happen right away, especially if you are considered to have a fairly strong spiritual presence at the moment. However, it will happen if you allow yourself to spend too much time with them. This is because many of those types of people can be draining of your energy. Their negative presence might also wear off on you.
Allowing Tragedy To Blame Whatever It Wants
It can be very hard to get through some types of tragedy, especially when they directly affect your life. However, you have to be careful to not allow the situation to appear to be the result of a lack of a higher power.
For example, you cannot allow yourself to think things such as:
- If there was a God this would not have happened
- This is proof that there is no higher power
- If you were more in tune with your spiritual self this wouldn’t have happened
Tragedy happens because that is the way the world works. Mistakes happen. People are imperfect.
Emotional And Mental Abuse
The last thing you want to do is to allow someone else to continue to tear you’re down to the point where you no longer see yourself as the true spiritual and loved being that you once were.
The abuse will cause you to believe that you are not good enough, that you are unloved, and that there is no higher power or you would have been saved from this terrible situation.
Instead of allowing yourself to believe all of that, you will need to believe that your spirituality will help you:
- Break free of the abuse
- Heal your emotional wounds
- Begin a new life for yourself
With all of this in mind, it should be easy enough to spot the various signs of potential emotional setbacks that you are going to have to face head-on. The last thing you want to do is to try to ignore them or just assume that they will not phase you.
If you need help getting through whatever it is that you are going through, you are going to want to talk to your teachers, family, friends, pastor, counselor, coach, and mentor. This way, you will have a chance to not only receive some advice but the loving support you need in order to hang on to every shred of spiritual awareness that you have within you.
